The Story of Axiom Science

Hi! I’m Nicole Jeffery, Director of Axiom Science. I’d love to share with you a little of my journey as a homeschooling mom, and tell you the story of Axiom Science.

We were pretty excited when we began our homeschooling journey. Like so many parents, we loved the voyage of discovery in the early years as we explored all the different subjects with our young children.

The years rolled by and our children progressed to more advanced study. We’re both pretty musical, so we were able to help our kids with piano and various other instruments. We covered Greek (my husband is a pastor and had studied Greek in seminary), and of course I loved teaching the subjects I know best – science and math.

Some other subjects were a bit more tricky. For example, neither my husband nor I have much detailed knowledge of history, geography, and literature. But we found some great textbooks and other resources, and I found myself able to keep up with our children week by week, learning together with them as they progressed.

It's hard to teach science unless you have some expertise yourself.

But other subjects presented a problem. We wanted our children to learn Spanish, but neither of us can speak it. With so many other demands on our time, there was no way we’d ever be able to learn it along with them. We began to find ourselves dependent on other resources to do the teaching for us.

Around the same time, we began to realize that many other parents were in exactly this position with science. As many homeschooling families have discovered the hard way, it’s hard to teach science unless you have some expertise yourself, especially as children progress through High School.

We were able to help some of these families over the years, inviting their children to join us for science lessons. But we wanted to do more. And so Axiom Science was born.

We created Axiom Science to help you provide the best possible science education for the children you love. We handle all the teaching for you, while our Supervisor Dashboard allows you to track your children’s progress and encourage them along the way. We want to help parents who don’t have first-hand expertise to give their children the opportunity to explore and enjoy the sciences.

At the same time, Axiom Science is perfect for small schools and co-ops, which often don’t have the resources to employ specialist teachers in every subject.

We created Axiom Science to help you provide the best possible science education for the children you love.

Finding a Science Teacher Has Never Been Harder

It’s never been tougher for schools to find good science teachers. Even large, well-funded public schools face significant recruitment problems, and the outlook for small schools is even more bleak. How can small schools provide advanced science teaching without a

No Science Knowledge? No Problem

Our goal is to provide excellent, affordable science education for homeschoolers, small schools, and co-ops — even when the parent or teacher doesn’t have a science background. Parents don’t need any scientific expertise at all.
