No Science Knowledge? No Problem

Hi! I’m Nicole Jeffery — Director of Axiom Science and veteran home educator.

Over the years our family has been blessed by an incredible variety of educational resources, which allowed us to stretch our children’s minds, and nurture their characters. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of meeting hundreds of home educators — first in England, where we’re originally from, and more recently in the US where we live today. 

Again and again, I’ve spoken with moms whose children were reaching the teenage years. Many of them felt anxious — sometimes even overwhelmed — about continuing to teach at this stage, especially when it came to the sciences. Personally, I felt the opposite pressure. Math and science never worried me; but the thought of teaching English Literature? That made me nervous!

Some friends solved the challenge of teenage science by hiring private tutors and investing in specialist equipment. But for most, this simply wasn’t possible. Private tutors can be great, but they quickly become expensive, and many parents want to retain the distinctive home education ethos they have worked so hard to cultivate. 

It was in this context that the vision for Axiom Science was born. Our goal is to provide excellent, affordable science education for home educators, schools, microschools, and co-ops — even when the parent or teacher doesn’t have a science background. Parents can remain as involved as they wish, keeping track of their children’s progress, but without needing any scientific expertise at all.

We’ve also included additional “Questions Students Ask” videos that tackle the extra questions students sometimes raise — the ones that provoke their curiosity and go a little further than the standard curriculum.

Our labs use ordinary household materials, and are designed to be carried out at home. Each one is supported by demo videos, safety guides, and sample reports to make the experiments straightforward, exciting, and rewarding.
